Project Summary
This project is a research collaboration between the Open University, UK, and the Institute of Education involving 10 selected primary schools within the Cape Coast Metropolis. This initiative is part of Open University's Teacher Education for Sub Saharan Africa (TESSA) programme which has been in existence for over 20 years. The project is funded by the Open University, UK. The project began in July 2024 and will through to March 2025.
As part of the project, teachers from the selected schools will receive specialized training on how to access and effectively utilize the Open University’s free online in-service courses designed for primary school teachers. These courses will provide teachers with the necessary tools and resources to enhance their professional skills, improve classroom practices, and contribute to better learning outcomes for their learners. The training will also focus on creating and sustaining Professional Learning Communities within their schools, which will facilitate peer collaboration, shared learning, and ongoing development.
